Qalamity outta SDC Posse & Magazzino GANJALABRIA

Qalamity aka Alberto Spadanuda

English version

Hailing from southern Italy, Qalamity began moving his first steps on the scenes of Calabria (region) at the end of the ’90s. He immediately scored a series of productions and maintained a rich activity of live performances, in local venues at first, and eventually in the rest of the country (Rome, Milan, Florence, Bologna, Turin, Perugia, Naples, Sicily, etc…).

With his crew Sdc Posse, he contributed to “Lettere [Letters]” (2002), and participated to the cross-project “The Delicious Life Orchestra” (2004), both distributed in roughly 1000 copies each. In 2003, he recorded on “Opennes” (distr. 3000 copies). In the same period he featured on a number of other albums and compilations. Since 2000 he’s been MC on Ganjalabria Sound (native of his own town).

In 2005 he is a founder of Audioplate Records (based out of Bologna, Italy). In 2006 he moved to New York to pursue his education, and has since reduced but continued his activity. In 2008 He recorded “I’ll be there” for Audioplate, which received highly positive reviews in its dedicated niche; “I’ll be there” was also printed on 7” vinyl format by Soupy Records (Italy). In 2010 the single “Walk Across”, in collaboration with Bronx MC’s Noble, is part of a compilation published by indie label Segnale Digitale (Milan, Italy).
